Embracing the romance of train travel.

A slim green wedge near a railway station ensured the train line became the inspiration for an evocative new apartment building.

The luxury of being able to relax and watch the world pass by in a precinct ripe for modernisation has informed the concept of this landmark urban structure. The iconic filleted corners of the carriage window inspired uniquely shaped façade modules.

The massing and sublet curve of the building recalls the familiar image of the train passing around a bend in the track, while the contorting ground level façade references the flow of the railway line. The two buildings slip past one another like two trains in the night.

The interiors at Nexus have been thoughtfully designed with soft edges and bold shapes that tie in with the building’s architecture. Rooms are elevated with surfaces that accent a variety of textures, while colours and finishes evoke the familiar materials of the neighbourhood.

The importance of connection cannot be overstated. Being connected to our community and the world around us improves our lives. We conceived the name Nexus to amplify the story of a central hub and impart the sense of destination that is inherent in this building and this location.

The logo was inspired by the train lines that are nearby, and the imagery we assembled was designed to impart freedom and liberation through the use of flowing waves of fabric in a palette of soothing colour tones.
